Dramatic scene in Supreme Court; lawyer attempts to throw shoe at Chief Justice BR Gavai

NEW DELHI: A dramatic incident occurred inside the Supreme Court on Monday when a lawyer allegedly tried to throw a shoe at Chief Justice BR Gavai. According to Supreme Court sources, the incident took place in the court while cases were being mentioned before a bench headed by the Chief Justice. The lawyer entered the courtroom and attempted to throw a shoe at the Chief Justice, accusing him of acting against Sanatan Dharma.

Security personnel quickly intervened and restrained the lawyer before taking him out of the court premises. Meanwhile, the CJI remained composed and said that such incidents would not affect him in any way.

The incident is believed to be linked to remarks made by the Chief Justice in connection with a case concerning the reinstallation of a seven-foot-tall beheaded idol of Lord Vishnu in Khajuraho. His earlier comments in that case had sparked widespread controversy and protests.
