JAIPUR: A woman who masqueraded as a sub-inspector at the Rajasthan Police Academy for two years has finally been caught. The woman Mona Bugaliya aka Mooli Devi(28) has been arrested. After failing the exam, the woman faked as a sub-inspector in front of the public with the support of fake documents.
Mona Bugaliya attended the banquets and functions of police officers and took pictures with high-ranking officials and posted them on social media. She fooled the police and the locals for two years. She went into hiding in 2023, when the fraud was exposed. The woman was caught in the Sikar district in Rajasthan two years later.
Mona is a native of Nagaur in Rajasthan. Her father is a truck driver. It was her big dream to join the police but she failed the qualifying exam in 2021. Later, she created documents under the fake name 'Mooli Devi' and shared a message on social media claiming that she was selected as a sub-inspector. She also walked around wearing a uniform. Mona also joined some police WhatsApp groups and interacted with many people. No one suspected her. She came to the parade ground in uniform and made acquaintances with new members of the force.
The lie was exposed when some trainee sub-inspectors raised doubts about Mona's identity and informed senior officers. Mona then went into hiding. After her arrest, the police searched the rented room where Mona was staying. They found Rs 7 lakh, three special police uniforms and exam papers from the Rajasthan Police Academy there.
