Five-year-old boy dies after eating cake, food poisoning suspected; parents in ICU

BENGALURU: A 5-year-old boy died allegedly due to food poisoning after eating a cake. His parents, who also ate the cake, are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital and are stated to be critical. Balaraju, a Swiggy delivery boy, and his wife Nagalakshmi are admitted to the ICU of Kempegowda Hospital. The deceased is their son, Dheeraj. The incident occurred on Monday.

Samples of food items from Balaraju's house have been collected for investigation. Preliminary information suggests suspected food poisoning, but police are also investigating the possibility of an attempted suicide. The police stated that conclusions can only be drawn after receiving the investigation results.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of KP Agrahara police station. Swiggy expressed condolences, stating that the incident was heartbreaking. A spokesperson said, "We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident. Our team has visited Balaraju and his family in the hospital, offering support and assistance.'
