NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has taken a veiled dig at party MP Shashi Tharoor for constantly praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was speaking at a press conference held at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi.
"For the party, the nation comes first. But for some, Modi comes first and the nation second. I can't read English well, while he has an excellent command of the language. That's why we made him a member of the CWC. The entire Opposition had clearly stated its support for our armed forces, our soldiers, and Operation Sindoor. But for some, Modi is the top priority. What can we do about that?" Kharge said.
When asked whether the Congress would take any disciplinary action against the Thiruvananthapuram MP, Kharge responded by saying, "People write what they feel. We don't wish to interfere in all that. We want unity for the sake of the nation. We will continue fighting for the country. There are about 34 CWC members and 30 special invitees. Each of them expresses their own views. Tharoor is stating his personal opinion. Our focus is on saving the nation. If anyone has any concerns regarding something else, you should ask him directly."
