Grand Mufti of India meets PM; Ajit Doval also at Modi - Kanthapuram A.P. Abubakar Musaliar meeting

NEW DELHI: Kanthapuram A.P. Abubakar Musaliar, the Grand Mufti of India and General Secretary of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyatul Ulama, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's official residence. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was also present.

Kanthapuram is intervening with the knowledge of the central government for the release of Malayali nurse Nimisha Priya, who was sentenced to death in Yemen. It is learnt that Ajit Doval was also part of the meeting in this context. It is also noteworthy that the prominent Sunni leader from Kerala met the Prime Minister with the assembly elections approaching.

Kanthapuram said that social and human educational and development issues, minority welfare issues and international events were discussed with the Prime Minister. He conveyed his concerns on SIR and Waqf Board issues and the pleas received.

Samastha Kerala Jamiyyatul Ulama SecretaryPerode Abdurahman Saqafi, SYS State President and Kanthapuram's son Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hakeem Azhari, and C.P. Swadikh Noorani were also with Kanthapuram.

Kanthapuram added that the Prime Minister appreciated the educational and social welfare activities of Samastha and Markaz. He also raised demands such as the problems in the development of national highways in Kerala, the preservation of ancient mosques and Islamic heritage monuments, the restoration of minority scholarships including the Maulana Azad National Fellowship, resolving the crises faced by Islamic institutions in North India, a train service connecting South Indian pilgrimage centres, and the development of the Aligarh University Malappuram centre.
