Vande Bharat Chair Cars are a hit on most of the routes they operate in the country. The service has not been successful on only a few routes. Now, reports are coming out that the much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Edition trains will start running in the first week of March itself. There are indications that an official notification in this regard from the Railway Board will be made soon.
Railway officials have said that the new Vande Bharat will be run on one of the busiest routes in the country. The Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) had conducted a trial run of the Vande Bharat sleeper train on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route over a distance of 540 km. The train, which is scheduled to run its first service, has already been delivered to the Chennai ICF.
The sleeper editions will have the same amenities as the Vande Bharat chaircar trains. The berths have been built using modern technology. The 16-coach train will have AC first class, second AC and third AC classes. 1,128 people can travel at a time. The sleeper Vande Bharat trains, which have the KAVACH Automatic Train Protection system to avoid collisions, will have automated doors, Wi-Fi and other safety features, officials said.
The Railways recently released pictures of the Vande Bharat sleeper trains. The pictures also included Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav inspecting the train. The first service is likely to run on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. The Railways aims to put more sleeper Vande Bharats on the track this year and next year.
