THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department informed of the possibility of rain with thundershowers at isolated places in Kerala on March 16 and 17. It has also been informed that there is a possibility of rain with thundershowers and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Thrissur and Kozhikode districts in the next three hours.

Lightning Alert

  • Move to a safe building immediately at the first sign of lightning. Remaining in open areas increases the risk of being struck by lightning.
  • Keep windows and doors closed during periods of strong winds and lightning. Stay away from doors and windows. Stay inside the building and try to avoid touching walls or floors as much as possible.
  • Unplug household appliances. Avoid being near electrical appliances during a thunderstorm.
  • Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. It is safe to use a mobile phone.
  • Do not go out onto the terrace or patio to get clothes when you see a thunderstorm.
  • Avoid taking a shower during a thunderstorm. Avoid collecting water from taps. Electricity from lightning can travel through pipes.
