House of Dr Umar Nabi, accused in Delhi blast, demolished, message to terrorists

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Friday demolished the house of Dr Umar Nabi, the accused in the bomb blast at Red Fort in New Delhi. His house at Pulwama in Kashmir, was demolished Friday early morning.

Authorities said his house was demolished as a message or warning to those who support terrorist activities on Indian soil. The blast was triggered last Monday evening. The i20 Hyundai car exploded near the Red Fort. 13 people had lost their lives and more than 20 sustained injuries.

An investigation conducted found that Umar Nabi, a doctor in Al Falah University in Faridabad was in the car that exploded. The NIA concludes that the planning of the blast was in Turkey.

2900 kg of bomb making material were recovered from Umar’s aides Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganai and Dr Shaheen Saeed. The two doctors are in custody now. It is reported that they were planning to carry out bigger attacks in the country.


Dr Umar Nabi and Dr Muzammil Ahmed Ganai have visited Turkey several times since 2021. They are reported to have met leaders of the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed there. However, the Turkish Embassy denied all these allegations.
