BENGALURU: Actor Darshan has complained to the court about the hardships he is facing in jail. “I can’t live like this anymore. Please, just give me poison. Life here has become unbearable,” the actor told the court. Darshan appeared in the 64th City Civil and Sessions Court through video conferencing. Darshan is in jail in the Renukaswamy murder case.
‘I haven’t seen sunlight for days. My hands have developed fungus. My clothes smell bad. I can’t live like this anymore. Please give me poison. Life here is unbearable,’ Darshan told the court. However, the judge responded by saying, “Such things cannot be done. That is not possible.”
Darshan was arrested in June 2024 in the case of kidnapping and murdering 33-year-old Renukaswamy. The police said that the murder was caused by Renukaswamy sending obscene messages to Darshan's close friend Pavithra Gowda. Renukaswamy was abducted, brutally beaten to death and then dumped in a drain.
In December 2024, Darshan was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court in the case. However, on August 14, 2025, the Supreme Court cancelled his bail, citing the possibility of influencing witnesses. The Supreme Court had also ordered that Darshan should not be given special treatment in jail. Following this, Darshan was arrested again and continues to be in judicial custody.
