NEW DELHI: Following the escalation of tension with Pakistan, India had temporarily shut down 32 airports in the northern and northwestern regions due to airspace restrictions. These airports are now set to reopen soon, as per the latest update. However, the directive for passengers to arrive early remains unchanged. The Airports Authority of India confirmed that civil flight operations will resume at all these airports including Srinagar, Chandigarh and Amritsar.

The list of 32 airports also includes Jaisalmer, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Adampur, Ambala, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Halwara, Hindon, Jammu, Kandla, Kangra, Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu-Manali, Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot, and Shimla. Initially, 24 airports were closed on Friday following heightened conflict with Pakistan. This number was later increased to 32.

The restrictions were originally announced to remain in place until May 15. The Airports Authority has advised passengers to check flight information either by directly contacting airlines or visiting their websites. With several airports in North India closed, Delhi airport had been experiencing a significant surge in passenger traffic. Security has been tightened across all airports in the country.
