
NEW DELHI: Anmol Bishnoi, the remote commander of the international crime syndicate led by notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, has been remanded in NIA custody for 11 days. Anmol is the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad.
Anmol, who was abroad, used to plan and execute the quotations taken by Lawrence. Hence the nickname Remote Commander. He is a notorious criminal who has sought refuge in the country, including shooting dead former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui and issuing death threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Agencies had also found that Anmol has links with terrorist Goldy Brar. A special flight carrying 200 Indian citizens, including Anmol, deported from the US, arrived at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10 am on Wednesday.
The NIA later recorded his arrest. Anmol was produced before the Patiala House Court in the evening and remanded in custody. The NIA informed the court that they would investigate the financial sources and the activities of the international network.
Anmol, a feared name even inside Bollywood, has more than 31 criminal cases against him in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. Sharpshooters are the powerhouse of the international crime syndicate. Agencies say that Anmol was the main mastermind behind the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai on October 12, 2024. He was also involved in the shooting in front of Bollywood actor Salman Khan's Bandra residence by bike-borne assailants in April 2024.
Anmol left the country on a fake passport, weeks after singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa, Punjab, in May 2022. He is a native of Fazilka in Punjab. But his travel documents show him as Bhanu Pratap, a native of Faridabad, Haryana. His father's real name is Lavinder Kumar. His travel documents show his father's name as Rakesh. Anmol used fake documents to travel to the US and Canada repeatedly. Anmol was arrested in California, US, last year. He has been in police custody there since then. An Interpol Red Corner Notice was also issued.
