
NEW DELHI: An Indian Air Force fighter jet has reportedly crashed in Assam. According to the Defence Department, contact was lost with a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft on radar. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Defence Public Relations Officer in Guwahati said that a search operation was launched after communication with the aircraft was lost. The search is being carried out under the leadership of the Indian Air Force. Reports say the pilot of the aircraft is missing.
Search operations are currently underway in the Karbi Anglong region of Assam. The Sukhoi fighter jet had taken off from the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam. The Air Force said the last contact with the aircraft was made at around 7:42 p.m., after which rescue operations were launched.
