NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday raised an allegation against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for purposefully consuming sweet products, to increase his blood sugar level. According to ED’s report to the Delhi Court, CM Arvind Kejriwal, who already has a history of diabetes, is purposefully consuming mangoes and sweets, to raise his sugar count.
ED lawyer Soheb Hossain told Special Judge Kaveri Baweja that the attempt from Kejriwal was to create a health emergency; therefore making the situation conducive for bail. The court was hearing Kejriwal's plea to allow consultation with his regular doctor through virtual conferencing as his blood sugar levels fluctuated constantly.
"We sought details of Kejriwal's diet from the jail authorities. He developed diabetes the day he ate food brought from his home. Despite testing positive for diabetes, he eats mangoes, sweets and sugared tea. This is a last-ditch attempt from the Delhi CM to get bail.” said Lawyer Soheb Hossain.
The court then asked for the details of the food provided to Kejriwal in jail. It is indicated that the information regarding this has been submitted by ED. The court will hear the plea again on Friday.
