Legendary army dog Phantom killed in Kashmir terrorist attack

SRINAGAR: Military dog ​​‘Phantom’ sacrificed his own life during a tense mission to locate terrorists in Kashmir. The demise of the canine has put the whole army crew in the gloom.

Phantom was shot during a search for terrorist hideouts in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor sector on Monday. At 6.30 am, an army ambulance was ambushed by terrorists. After the soldiers retaliated, the terrorists escaped to the nearby forest area. The crew later foraged the forest area to capture the assailants.

The firing started when the terrorists were found hiding in the basement of a building. Meanwhile, Phantom, the military dog ​​that was guiding the search team, suffered a shot.

"We salute the supreme sacrifice of our hero, the legendary military dog ​​Phantom. We will never forget his courage, loyalty and dedication” The White Knight Corps paid tribute on social media platform X.

Phantom, a Belgian Malinois, was born on May 25, 2020. He was trained at Remount Veterinary Corps, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

Phantom was later inducted into the force on August 12, 2022. Earlier on October 9, 2022, during an anti-terrorist mission in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, the famous army dog, Zoom was killed similarly.
