PATHANAPURAM: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan said that the Ezhavas should demand the seats they deserve in the local body elections. He was delivering the presiding speech at the branch-level leadership meeting held jointly by Pathanapuram and Punalur unions at the Aries Convention Center in Valacode.
“When Muslim, Christian and Nair community members win seats based on caste, we are ashamed to mention it. A leader of the Muslim League is walking around saying that I am a caste fanatic. There is no social justice but community justice here. There is not even a Kudippallikoodam for the Ezhava community in Malappuram. Muslims have 18 schools in Malappuram alone. Most of these belong to a rich person. It is the government that pays the salaries of the employees here. Even if the left and right fronts come to power alternately, they will not give us anything. They will say that I am a communalist if I say anything. I will advocate for the Ezhavas till the end of my life,” said Vellappally.
The convention centre and grounds were filled with more than 5,000 Sree Narayaniyyars. Yogam Vice President Thushar Vellappally gave an organizational briefing. Vellappally Natesan, who completed 30 years as Yogam General Secretary and SN Trust Secretary, was honoured.
