
KOLKATA: A Malayali law student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Kolkata. The dead has been identified as Juan Jose Jebin (19), a second-semester student of the West Bengal National University of Judicial Sciences and son of Jebin Jose of Vadassery House, Pazhassi Road, Palarivattom, Ernakulam. The body was found Monday morning in the campus. He was lying in a pool of blood under the hostel building. The police questioned Juan's classmates and university staff.
CCTV footage is also being examined. A case of unnatural death has been registered in the incident. The body has been shifted to Bidhannagar Taluk Hospital. The authorities informed his house that he lost his life after falling from the hostel building. The police said the investigation into the incident is progressing. The Bidhannagar South Police is in charge of the investigation. It is reported that Juan's relatives have left for Kolkata.
In 2012 and 2015, students died under mysterious circumstances in the same institution. In 2012, a student named Wasim Iqbal died. He had fallen from the hostel building. In 2015, a first-year student named Vikas Chaudhary, a native of Assam, died. The relatives had filed a complaint against the then VC of the university and the hostel warden, alleging that Vikas Chaudhary's death was a murder.
