'Martyrdom in Islam...misunderstood concept'; Dr Umar Nabi's chilling video out

NEW DELHI: A video of Umar un Nabi, alias Dr Umar Muhammad, the suicide bomber in the Red Fort blast, is out. Investigating agencies say that Umar un Nabi shared this video in some Telegram groups two months ago, justifying suicide attacks across the world.

“Suicide bombing is a very misunderstood concept. A person becomes a suicide bomber after knowing that death is inevitable. This is martyrdom in Islam. Now, opposing arguments are also coming against the concept. A martyr cannot predict where and when he will die. If it is decreed that it will happen, it will happen. Do not be afraid of death,” said Umar in the video.

The video is one minute and 20 seconds long. Umar speaks in English. The video was recorded by Umar Nabi from what appears to be a hostel room. It is clear from the video that Umar was in favour of suicide bombing.

More unsettling is the fact that Umar’s demeanour throughout the video remains calm. He is soft-spoken while incongruously justifying a barbaric act. The video also refutes speculation that the explosives may have been accidentally detonated while being transported.
