Must leave constituency soon after Kalashakkottu; use of mobile phones restricted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Today marking the 23rd day since the election campaign began, and as it is the grand finale day (Kalashakkottu), there is a high possibility of traffic restrictions in most cities. The Kalashakkottu is at 6 pm today. The election commission has informed that strict action will be taken if public campaigning is held after 6 pm.

The election commission has also clarified that political workers who are not voters in the constituency who have come to campaign should leave the constituency soon after the Kalashakkottu. Foreign liquor retailers, bars and toddy shops in the state will not operate from 6 pm today to 6 pm on April 9 as part of voting. A 48-hour dry day has been declared.


The use of mobile phones has been restricted at polling stations. Phones must be handed over before entering the booth. The election commission has also informed that the phones can be collected when they return after getting the token and casting their votes.
