Navy moves to place where lorry is; search for Arjun in vital phase

SHIRUR: The mission to find Arjun of Kozhikode, who went missing in the landslide at Shirur in Karnataka, is in the vital phase. A team of 15 navy divers in three dinghy boats left to the place where the lorry is suspected to be. The officials are conducting a preliminary examination to see if the divers can enter the river. There are strong currents in the river due to the rains lashing in the last few days.

A drone will also be used to search the condition and location of the lorry. It is reported that the drone inspection will begin at 12 noon. A drone-powered scanner can also pick up signals from the bottom of the river. IBOD was brought from Noida with the special permission of the Centre. Three people, including Arjun, are yet to be found.

Drone batteries cannot be brought on a flight. Hence, the batteries were brought in Rajdhani Express from Delhi. The train arrived at Karwar station at around 10.40 am. It is about an hour's drive from here to the landslide spot. By 11.40, the battery reached the accident site. The information received from the officials is that it will be assembled soon and the work will start.

The scanner will be attached to the drone system. On-site inspection is carried out using two scanners capable of inspection at depths of eight meters and 90 meters. The advantage is that it is possible to accurately locate objects underground. It is a technology that can detect the presence of human body.
