BENGALURU: The ripple effect of the CM selection impasse in Kerala reached Karnataka. On the occasion of DK Shivakumar's birthday, posters were put up in many places in Bengaluru with the words 'Next Chief Minister DK Shivakumar'. It is reported that the posters were put up by Shivakumar's followers. The power dispute has been intense for the last few months over the alleged agreement made between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar about the succession of power on May 20, 2023.

DK's followers have demanded that Siddaramaiah resign from the post after two and a half years. But to date, there has been no change in power.

Many MLAs have openly supported DK Shivakumar for the chief minister's post. Experts predicted that there would be a change of power or a cabinet reshuffle after a three-year standoff. Last month, DK Shivakumar had made it clear that he and the chief minister would abide by any decision taken by the high command. One faction suggested Siddaramaiah continue as the chief minister for the smooth running of the government. Senior Congress leaders, including AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, are monitoring the situation.
