NEW DELHI: Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi (79) has been admitted in the hospital. She was admitted to the hospital for a minor surgical procedure. Sonia is undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. This is the third time this year that Sonia has been admitted to the hospital.

It is reported that she was part of the discussions held at 10 Janpath in Delhi yesterday to decide the chief minister of Kerala. Earlier, Sonia Gandhi was seeking treatment at Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. The leaders informed that there was no need to worry. However, no further details related to the surgery have been released.

Sonia was admitted to the hospital in January due to severe breathing issues. The reason for her health condition deteriorating was that her asthma worsened due to the severe cold and air pollution in Delhi. Later, Sonia was admitted to the hospital in March due to stomach ailments.

Sonia was scheduled to meet Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge today in deciding the chief minister of Kerala. In the present situation, this meeting is likely to be prolonged. There are indications that this may also delay the announcement of the chief minister of Kerala. The AICC had summoned senior leaders from Kerala and held discussions. It is a great shame for the party itself that it has not decided on the chief minister even after a week of the results being declared.
