BENGALURU: A newlywed couple were forced to attend their wedding reception via video call in the most unusual way following the IndiGo flight crisis. The incident took place in Hubballi, Karnataka. Software engineers Medha Kshirsagar of Hubballi and Sangam Das got married in Bengaluru on November 23. The bride, Medha Kshirsagar, is a native of Hubballi. The wedding took place in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the groom's hometown.
Their wedding reception was scheduled for December 3 at Gujarat Bhavan in Hubballi, the bride's hometown. They had booked tickets from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru and then to Hubballi on December 2. The newlyweds were hoping to reach the venue before the wedding reception. Alas, all plans had to be dropped after IndiGo flights were cancelled en masse, putting thousands of passengers in disarray.
The newlyweds and some of their relatives were unable to reach the wedding venue on time. Not aware of the happenings, guests started arriving at the venue. Then the bride's parents intervened and conducted the ceremony. The bride and groom, fully dressed in wedding attire, participated in the reception through video conferencing.
“The wedding was on November 23. The reception was planned for December 3. But suddenly the flight was cancelled at 4 am. We tried all possibilities, but they couldn't arrive on time' said the bride's mother.
