CHENNAI: A security guard of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader, actor and film producer Seeman has been arrested in a clash with police. The dramatic incidents took place at Seeman's house in Neelankarai. A summons had been issued to Seeman at the Valasaravakkam police station on the complaint of an actress who alleged that she was raped on the promise of marriage. The problems escalated after this summons was torn.
On the instructions of Seeman's wife, his assistant Subakaran tore up the summons. Upon learning of this, a scuffle broke out between the Neelankarai police and the security guard. Subsequently, the security guard, Amal Raj, who pointed a gun at the police, was arrested. A case has been registered for an attempt to murder. The police have seized the gun. Subakaran has also been arrested in the incident.
Seeman did not appear at the station yesterday despite being told to appear in the case related to the actress's complaint, so a summons was placed in front of his house, asking him to appear today. His lawyers informed that Seeman is out of Chennai in connection with the party. A case has been filed against Seeman under sections including cheating, rape, and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
The actress filed a complaint at the Valasaravakkam police station in 2011, alleging that Seeman had raped her on the promise of marriage and had performed multiple abortions on the instructions of the leader. However, the actress applied to withdraw the complaint in 2012, but the police refused. The actress had attempted suicide in 2020, alleging that the police were defaming her. In 2023, the actress filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner, demanding a re-investigation into the complaint filed in 2011. However, the actress later requested the court to allow her to withdraw the complaint. Since the complaint was withdrawn, Seeman also requested that the case be quashed. However, the court, observing that since it was a case of harassment, the police could investigate even if the complaint was withdrawn, ordered the police to complete the investigation and submit a final report within three months.
