Railway clerk busy on phone after ignoring long queue of passengers, suspended

BENGALURU: A railway ticket clerk is seen busy talking on the phone after ignoring a long queue of passengers waiting to get their tickets at the Yadgir railway station in Karnataka. The authorities have suspended C Mahesh for dereliction of duty. The video of Mahesh's phone conversation and the images of people queuing to buy tickets have gone viral on social media.

Mahesh got a phone call while issuing tickets to passengers. After telling the passengers to get back in a minute, he started talking on the phone. After a while, he was seen leaning in his chair and talking. As he was seen laughing and cracking jokes, the passengers got restless. The queueing passengers requested to issue tickets as the train will arrive soon, but he did not pay heed to it. Meanwhile, many losing temper started shouting at him. Finally, he ended his conversation and issued tickets.

The authorities took action against the clerk after the video went viral on social media. The authorities said the incident is an act that cannot be justified in any way. There are hints of a departmental investigation and action will be taken against him. There is also widespread protest against him on social media.
