SRINAGAR: Security forces killed terrorist Samandar Chacha alias Bagu Khan in an encounter in Gurez, Jammu and Kashmir. Bagu Khan, known as the "Human GPS" in terrorist organizations, had been facilitating infiltration attempts from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir into India since 1995. His death is being seen as a major blow to the terrorist networks in the region.
He was killed on August 23 while trying to infiltrate along with another terrorist across the Line of Control. Security sources said that he had facilitated over 100 infiltrators. Bagu Khan's precise knowledge of the terrain made most of his attempts successful. This earned him the nickname "Human GPS".
Bagu Khan has also worked with various terrorist groups including Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Bagu Khan continued his infiltration attempts for years without the knowledge of the security forces.
