Reached park at night to elope with lover; 17-year-old girl sexually abused by policeman who offered help

BENGALURU: The policeman, who sexually abused a 17-year-old girl at a park in the city, has been arrested. The arrested person has been identified as probationary constable Pawan Dyavannanavar(25) of Govindarajanagar police station. The incident happened last Wednesday.

The girl had come to the park in Vijaynagar to elope with a youth from Chamarajanagar whom she had met through social media. Despite waiting for a long time, the lover did not turn up. Although she tried to contact the lover through the phone, his phone was switched off. Pawan Dyavannanavar, who was on night patrol, came to help the girl who didn't know what to do with no money in her hand.

Pawan promised to help the girl trace her lover and took her to his residence. He then sexually abused her at his residence. On the next day, he gave her Rs 500 and dropped her at the KSRTC bus terminal at Majestic. However, instead of going to her own house, the girl went to her lover's house and explained everything to the lover's father. Following this, the lover's father informed the police about the incident. Later, the police arrested Pawan on the girl's complaint. Higher officials informed that he has been suspended from service.
