CHENNAI: Devotees were shocked after discovering a rocket launcher on the banks of the Cauvery River near the Andanallur temple in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli district. The unusual find was made yesterday evening, sending waves of concern through the area.

The light blue and black metal object, initially suspected to be a bomb, was first noticed by devotees visiting the temple, who promptly alerted the police. Authorities swiftly responded, retrieving the launcher from the riverbank and transferring it to the 117 Infantry Battalion of the Indian Army for further analysis.

Police officials have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway. It remains unclear how the rocket launcher ended up near the temple, raising security concerns among locals. In response, police have intensified surveillance in the surrounding areas and are closely examining CCTV footage to trace the origin of the device.
