Seven newborn babies charred to death in major fire in hospital, six under treatment

NEW DELHI: Seven newborns were charred to death last night in a massive fire that broke out at a children's hospital in East Delhi's Vivek Vihar area. Six people were rescued and admitted to another nearby hospital. Reports said all six of them are on ventilators. A fire broke out at New Born Baby Care Hospital and its adjoining building around 11.30 pm on Saturday. The fire was completely extinguished this morning. Rescue operations are going on.


An investigation has been started in the incident. The authorities said the cause of fire has not been ascertained. Fire officer Rajesh told news agency ANI that the fire affected two buildings.

Meantime, the death toll in the fire at a gaming center in Gujarat's Rajkot has touched 27. 12 children include in this. Many people were injured. 15 children have been rescued. Local media reports that many people are trapped. However, there is no confirmation in this regard. A search is going on here. The fire broke out in the TRP game zone in Rajkot last evening. Sources said that more than 60 people were in the gaming zone at the time of the accident.


Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced that the family members of the dead will be given Rs 4 lakh and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Many children were in the center as it was holidays. It is indicated that the accident occurred following the explosion of the AC. An investigation has been started into the incident. Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The gaming zone is named after Yuvraj Singh Solanka. The police informed that a case has been registered against him and further investigation is underway. The chief minister said that a special team has been appointed for the investigation. As the bodies were burnt beyond recognition, DNA testing may be required. It was found that the center did not have NOC.


The temporary gaming zone was made entirely of wood. So, the fire spread quickly. The mission team said that at the time of the incident, strong winds blew and the building collapsed completely, hampering the rescue operations.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the tragedy. Prime Minister said on ‘X’ that he shares the grief of the relatives of the dead and prays for the injured.
