NEW DELHI: The Central Election Commission has extended the deadline for the intensive voter list revision. Forms can now be submitted until December 11. The draft voter list will be published by December 16, and the final voter list will be released on February 14. The deadline has been extended in 12 regions, including Kerala.

Kerala is part of the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which is being carried out across several states—Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal—and the Union Territories of Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The first phase of SIR was successfully completed in Bihar.

India has conducted intensive voter list revisions eight times between 1951 and 2004. The last SIR was held during 2002–04, and the current revision is based on that voter list. If a person’s name is missing from the list, they can submit an enumeration form according to the 2002, 2003, or 2004 voter lists.

Proof of relationship, such as documents showing the names of parents listed in the voter list, must be provided. Citizens can also check whether their names are present in the old voter lists on the Election Commission’s official website.
