NEW DELHI: The wings of two planes collided at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon. The incident involved a SpiceJet flight that had arrived from Leh and an aircraft operated by Akasa Air, which was preparing to move towards the runway for departure to Hyderabad. The collision occurred at around 2:15 pm. No injuries were reported, and all passengers and crew members on board both aircraft are safe.
The right wing of the SpiceJet aircraft and the left-side horizontal stabiliser of the Akasa Air aircraft sustained damage. All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft. An Akasa Air spokesperson stated that alternative flight arrangements were immediately made for passengers travelling to Hyderabad. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. It is being examined whether a lapse in ground traffic control at the airport led to the collision.
