NEW DELHI: Air India's San Francisco-Delhi flight was diverted due to a technical snag. The flight was diverted to Mongolia after an emergency intervention by the crew. The Air India Boeing 777 made an emergency landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The plane landed safely in Ulaanbaatar. Necessary checks are being carried out. Air India officials said that necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the passengers reach their destination as soon as possible. “We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the unforeseen situation. At Air India, the safety of passengers and crew remains a top priority,” said the official statement of the airline.

Sources said the technical fault was due to a low engine oil level. However, details about the number of passengers on board were not released. Air India has contacted the embassy to arrange another flight for the passengers.
