RAIPUR: Four jawans were martyred in a landmine blast in Kanker, Chhattisgarh. The incident took place near the Kanker-Narayanpur border during an anti-Naxal operation. The blast occurred while the security team was attempting to defuse landmines planted by Maoists.

Inspector Sukhram Vatti of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), along with Constables Krishna Komra and Sanjay Gadhpale of the Bastar Fighters, died on the spot. Another injured personnel, Constable Parmanand Korram, was airlifted to Raipur but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The incident occurred around 11:30 AM in a forested area near Adnar village. Based on intelligence inputs regarding Maoist camps, a joint team comprising DRG officials, Bastar Fighters, and the District Force had moved in to clear the area. The team successfully defused landmines at one location; however, a second cache of IEDs exploded while they were being neutralised. Forensic and ballistic teams are currently conducting an investigation at the site.
