Vijay in trouble; Judge orders seizure of TVK's campaign bus, wants footage from inside and outside bus

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has ordered the seizure of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay's campaign vehicle. The court ordered to seize his vehicle after the incident in which 41 people died during TVK’s rally in Karur. The Namakkal police is likely to seize his campaign vehicle soon. The police have handed over the evidence related to the case to the Special Investigation Team.

The footage of a bike coming under the campaign vehicle in the stampede had emerged earlier. The court had pointed out the other day that the bus moved forward without stopping even after the bike fell under the bus. The court had asked the police why a case was not registered as it was not an ordinary accident. The order to seize the campaign vehicle has now been issued. The court has also directed to capture of CCTV footage from inside and outside the area where the vehicle passed, as well as from inside and outside Vijay's campaign bus.

The court had strongly criticized Vijay the other day. The court clarified that the tragedy in Karur was man-made and that no one is above law. The court criticized Vijay in harsh language, saying that even though children died, he left the place and that the person who abandoned his followers lacked leadership qualities. The court also asked what kind of political party is this. Asked the government why it was reluctant to proceed with the investigation of the case. When government lawyer J Raveendran said that two people had been arrested, the court asked why showing leniency to TVK. Although it did not directly order a case to be filed against Vijay, it strongly criticized the state government's ‘Vijay fear'. With this, Vijay is also likely to be implicated in the case.
