Whistle symbol approved for Vijay’s TVK, Kamal Haasan’s MNM also gets election symbol

CHENNAI: Actor Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), will contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections using the whistle symbol. The Election Commission of India has officially allotted the whistle as the party’s election symbol.

TVK had approached the Election Commission on November 11 last year seeking an election symbol. The party had submitted a list of seven symbols chosen from the available options. In addition, it had also submitted three symbols designed by the party for the Commission’s consideration.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has also allotted a symbol to actor Kamal Haasan’s party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). The party has been assigned the battery torch symbol. MNM had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections using the same symbol.
