BENGALURU: A woman’s decomposed body was found in an apartment in Chandapura, Bengaluru on Tuesday. The victim was identified as a Bengal native while drugs and syringes were also recovered from the room.

Police have not yet disclosed further details of the victim, but her age was revealed as 25. Officials also suspected sexual assault before her death which adds to the mystery. The decomposed body was found in the third-floor apartment in Head Master Layout.

Sangeet Gupta, the owner of the apartment and a software engineer, entered the flat after sensing a foul odour emanating from the room. Just after entering the apartment, Gupta saw the decomposed body and immediately informed the police. It was found that the dead body was five days old.

The Surya Nagar police said that the body was lying naked but there were no injuries or other bruise marks on it. The body has been now shifted for post-mortem.

Sangeet Gupta lives below the flat where the body was found. Most of the flats here are rented out. A 40-year-old man accompanied the victim when she rented the flat a month ago. He introduced himself as her father. The police have started a search for him. The landlord did not ask for any other documents from the tenants. The owner agreed to rent the flat at the suggestion of a native of Odisha who lives in the same building. Interestingly, the Orissa man is also missing and both of their phones are in switched-off state.
