Yet another BLO suicide; teacher commits suicide due to mental stress

GIR SOMNATH: A schoolteacher has committed suicide as he was reportedly unable to cope with the mental stress caused by SIR-related duties. The incident took place in Gir Somnath district in Gujarat. The deceased has been identified as Arvind Vadher, a primary school teacher hailing from Devli in Kodinar. Police have obtained a suicide note written by Arvind stating that he was unable to bear the mental pressure and heavy workload. Arvind had been working at a school in Chhara village in Kodinar.

He was found dead at his house at around 6.30 am. Gir Somnath Collector and District Election Officer N.V. Upadhyay expressed shock over the incident and said that a police investigation is underway. He said that Arvind was an efficient BLO and had already completed nearly 40 per cent of his assigned work in a short time.

Another teacher working as a BLO in Kheda district also died on Thursday. Rameshbhai Parmar (50) died in his sleep following a heart attack. Teachers have requested the Collector to reduce the workload related to SIR duties.
