NEW DELHI: India has never insulted or harmed its neighbours, but if someone turns to evil there is no other option but to defend it, said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. His response was in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
'We never insult or harm our neighbours. But if someone turns to evil? The king's duty is to protect the people. He has to perform his duty. Teaching a lesson to goons is also our religion. Non-violence is our religion, our value. However, Hindutva also teaches us to confront the aggressors.'
'It is important to understand the true meaning of Sanatana Dharma. Religion should be based on four pillars: truth, cleanliness, compassion and penance. Anything beyond this is unrighteousness. Today, religion is limited to rituals and food habits,' said Mohan Bhagwat while addressing an event.
‘Tourists were attacked after asking their religion. Hindus would never do such a thing. Hatred and enmity are not part of our culture. However, that does not mean silently tolerating violence,’ Bhagwat said.
