BEIJING: After US President Donald Trump’s pompous claim of ending the skirmish on the India-Pakistan border, China stepped up, claiming it was them who mediated talks and brought peace in the region. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, at an international event held in Beijing yesterday, said that apart from the India-Pakistan conflict, China has also mediated in northern Myanmar, the Iranian nuclear issue, the Palestine-Israel issue, and the Cambodia-Thailand conflict.

"Conflicts and instability are increasing around the world. This year saw the highest number of regional wars and border disputes since World War II. China has taken an objective to resolve international conflicts, focusing on building peace,” Wang Yi said.

US President Donald Trump months ago made a vainglorious statement about ending the India-Pakistan conflict. India had reiterated that there was no third-party intervention in the India-Pakistan conflict.
