THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: South Zone IG Shyam Sundar said that a special team has been formed to investigate the Venjaramoodu mass killing case. He said that the initial conclusion is that the accused committed the crime alone. The IG was talking to the media after visiting Afaan's house in Perumala. It was in this house that he tried to kill his mother, killed his girlfriend and brother.
‘The initial conclusion is that he committed the crime alone. Only after getting the results of his blood samples, it can be confirmed whether he had used drugs. A special investigation team has been formed to investigate the incident. The weapon used for the attack has been recovered,' clarified the IG.
23-year-old Afaan of Perumala in Venjaramoodu killed five people. He murdered his girlfriend Farsana, brother Afzan, father's brother Latheef, his wife Shaheeda and paternal grandmother Salma Beevi. The murders were committed in three houses. The accused later surrendered in the police station.
After leaving the house, Afaan went straight to the gold-pawning firm. He demanded some money and said that he will bring the gold later. Since he was already acquainted with them, they gave him money. He bought a hammer from Venjaramoodu with the money and then went straight to his paternal grandmother Salma Beevi’s house and murdered her. He took her chain, returned to Venjaramoodu and handed over the chain to the gold pawning firm.
The accused later went to the house of his paternal uncle, killed him and his wife. He then returned home, called his girlfriend and killed her. He later killed his younger brother also.
