5000 people arrested in police operations to nab goons

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than 5000 people have been arrested through Operation Aag and Operation D-hunt launched by police against goons and drug mafias. The raid from May 14th will continue for 10 days under the leadership of the district police chiefs. 2000 habitual criminals have been remanded in custody. Goons, drug dealers, criminals, habitual criminals and warrant accused were arrested. Two operations are being carried out together to break the ties between goons and drug mafia. The action is after the Kerala Kaumudi report regarding police's failure to crackdown on goons.

The police raided the houses of the gangsters. Those who were previously convicted in gangster and drug cases and those who were deported are being arrested and their activities are being examined. Those who have been convicted in the cases but released on bail will be remanded in custody. ADGP in charge of law and order H. Venkatesh is coordinating the operations.

Vigilance in cities: DGP

In an online meeting held yesterday, the police chief instructed the district police chiefs to be vigilant against goons and mafia groups in the cities of Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. Even if there are no complaints, action should be taken as soon as the information reaches the police
