THRISSUR: Prem Kumar of Kottayam, the accused in the Padiyoor double murder case, has been found dead. He is the accused in the murder cases of Mani (74) of Padiyoor and her daughter Rekha (43). He married Rekha in her second marriage. His body was found at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. He went into hiding soon after committing the murder. The police had also issued a lookout notice for him. The Kedarnath police informed the Kerala police. The Irinjalakuda police team investigating the murder case has left to Kedarnath.
Mani and Rekha were murdered in the first week of June. The police believe that he may have strangled or suffocated the two to death. Pictures of Rekha and her male friends were found stuck on her clothes after the murder. A note criticizing her character was also found. The police' initial conclusion is that Prem Kumar may have committed the murder following a family dispute. He is also an accused in the case of killing his first wife Vidya of Cherthala, in 2019 and burying her in the forest. He married Rekha of Thrissur, after released on bail in this case.
The neighbors alerted Mani's elder daughter Sindhu after a foul smell emanated from the house near Padiyoor panchayat. She gained access through the back of the house and then saw her mother and sister lying dead in the hall of the house and a nearby room. The bodies were days old. The things in the house were in a mess. Sindhu said that Rekha had filed a complaint against Prem Kumar at the Irinjalakuda Women's Station a few days ago.
