CHERTHALA: Twin sons who brutally attacked their elderly father by hitting him on the head and strangling him have been arrested. Akhil Chandran (30) and Nikhil Chandran (30), residents of ward 8 of Pattanakkad Grama Panchayat, have been arrested.

The sons beat their father in the presence of their mother on Sunday night at around 10.40 pm. Akhil Chandran beat up Chandrasekaran Nair (75), who was bedridden. He beat his father on the head, shook him and strangled him. Nikhil Chandran gave instructions for all this and filmed the scenes of the beating on his mobile phone. Both of them live in the same house with their parents. The Pattanakkad police have registered a case against Nikhil Chandran as the second accused for filming the scene without stopping the attack. Both of them are seen sharing happiness during the attack.

They sent the footage of the violence to their elder brother and friends. After the footage went viral on social media, the two went into hiding. Following an investigation by the police, the two were arrested from Cherthala around noon. Pattanakkad police had registered a case against them in 2023, who had been constantly beating their father for three years. The two often harass their parents when they get drunk. Pattanakkad police said that a case has been filed under five sections, including torturing parents mentally and physically. The accused will be produced in the Cherthala court today.
