Couple trapped under debris after landslide in Adimali; rescue operations underway

IDUKKI: A family is feared trapped under the debris following the sudden landslides that hit Koompanpara near Adimali in Idukki late Saturday night. The soil, which was teetering dangerously following the rains, collapsed on a house. The family who were in the hall of the house is reportedly trapped. It is said that the family is communicating with the rescue workers. Some others admitted to hearing sounds from beneath the soil.

It is reported that Biju and his wife Sandhya, are trapped under the soil, while rescue workers admitted seeing the couple. The panchayat member of the region said that he communicated with Sandhya.

The police and the fire brigade have reached the spot. Rescue operations are underway. Families have been shifted from Adimali Unnati to the camp. A large crack has formed at the top of the Unnati. The camp has been opened at Adimali Government School. The NDRF team is heading towards the spot.
