Malayalam Director Ranjith arrested after actress alleges molestation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have arrested director and scriptwriter Ranjith following a harassment complaint by a young actress. The Ernakulam Central Police registered the case, while the Idukki SP directed the arrest. Ranjith was taken to the Thodupuzha station and will soon be handed over to the Kochi police.

The actress alleges the incident occurred on the set of Ranjith's new film. She filed her complaint with the DGP and the former SIT before it reached Commissioner Kaliraj Maheshwar. After recording her confidential statement two days ago, police found merit in the claims and initiated the arrest.
