KANNUR: A case has been registered against a teacher under non-bailable section for fracturing the hands of a girl of eighth standard. The case was registered against K Murali, a social science teacher of Pacheni Govt High School. The incident happened Monday morning around 10:30 am.

A 13-year-old girl from Wayad, studying in the eighth class was thrashed with a stick. The child was crying with her hand swollen and the school authorities informed her home only around 1:30 pm. The parents immediately reached the school and took her to Kannur Govt Medical College in Pariyaram.

She has fractured her hand and her arm has been plastered. It is reported that the teacher beat some other children also for not completing the notes. There have been widespread protests over the approach of the school authorities for not taking the child to the hospital and for not informing the incident to her family even after hours. The Youth League-MSF workers staged a protest march to the school yesterday.
