Complaint against resort owner for assaulting adivasi youth

PALAKKAD: A complaint has been filed against a resort owner for assaulting a tribal youth after locking him up in a room. He was not given food. The incident happened at Muthalamada in Palakkad. The youth was confined in a room for about six days. The youth identified as Vellayan from Muthalamada, Moochakundu, Chambakuzhi, suffered the brutal attack. He was held captive in a room of the resort without food for six days.


Vellayan, who came to the resort for work, drank alcohol from a bottle there. In a fit of rage, the resort owner locked him up in a room in a building adjacent to the resort. The incident came to light when a worker of the resort told Dalit leader Sivarajan about this. Sivarajan immediately informed the former panchayat president. They reached the resort with a group of women.

The resort owner threatened them. They conducted a search and then found him lying unconscious in a room. They immediately informed the police. The police reached the spot, opened the door and took the youth to the hospital. The former panchayat president said that when Vellayan said that he wants to urinate, the owner kicked him and that he was given food only once.
