Congress leader arrested for sexually abusing woman

MALAPPURAM: A congress leader has been arrested for sexually abusing a woman on the pretext of marriage. The arrested is Jamal Karipur (35) of Kondotty Pallikkal Congress mandalam president. The complaint is that she was sexually abused in Kakkanchery on the pretext of marriage.

The woman lodged the complaint against him on Monday. The Thenhippalam police then registered the case. Jamal Karipur is also a panchayat member. After the case was registered, the CPM demanded that Jamal resign from the panchayat membership or that the panchayat president or panchayat director be removed. The Congress alleged that Jamal was framed in a false case for taking a strong stand against the drug mafia.
