Custody plea for Sanoop who hacked doctor; Strike continues in Thamarassery Taluk Hospital 

KOZHIKODE: The police will grill Sanoop of Korangad Aanapara who attacked assistant surgeon Dr Vipin of the Taluk Hospital, in detail. The decision of the investigation team is to file a custody plea in the Thamarassery Judicial First Class Court today or tomorrow. The collection of evidence in the case has been completed. However, it will be clear only if he is questioned in detail whether anyone else is also involved in the act.

Meantime, it is reported that doctors of Thamarassery Taluk Hospital will go on strike today. The doctors’ service will not be available in the emergency department. Only those in extremely critical conditions will be treated in the casualty.

The doctors and employees had boycotted the OP yesterday. Protest marches and dharnas were held under the leadership of doctors' and nurses' organizations, service organizations, and the Staff Welfare Association.

The accused attacked the doctor, believing that his nine-year-old daughter, who had contracted amoebic encephalitis, had died due to the negligence of the doctors. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon. Dr Vipin had not treated Sanoop's daughter.

Sanoop came with a dagger hidden in his bag to attack the superintendent. The superintendent was in a meeting. Dr Vipin came out from the same meeting to check a patient's lab report. He went to the superintendent's office and checked the lab report. Sanoop hacked the doctor with the dagger when he was talking to his patients. The doctor himself stopped the attacker. The others rushed and overpowered the attacker.
