Dr Ruwais’ father flees after being sure of his arrest, house found locked when police arrived for interrogation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Father of Dr Ruwais, has fled making sure that he would be arrested in the suicide case of Dr Shehna. When the police came to his house at Karunagapally in Kollam to question him, there was no one in the house. Reports said that all have gone underground. Ruwais’ relatives will be interrogated soon in the case.

The statement of Dr Shehna’s family mentioned that his father has a role in demanding dowry. So, the police will be questioning him and his relatives. Only after the

interrogation, will be decided whether an arrest is needed or not. The police will also take the statements of the friends of Ruwais and Shehna. Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended Ruwais’ membership. He was earlier suspended from the medical college.

Meanwhile, more information has surfaced in the suicide of Dr Shehna. She had sent a WhatsApp message to Ruwais saying that she is going to commit suicide. Soon after getting this message, he had blocked her. The police have got the details of this message from her phone.

The message was sent on Monday morning at 9 am. She was found lying unconscious on that day night at her flat. Ruwais had deleted this message just before he was arrested.

Meantime, police said that her suicide note had mentioned his name. This was stated in his remand report. The police arrested Ruwais after considering her suicide note written in the OP ticket and her mother’s statement.

'I am ending my life today because of dowry greed...His intention was to ruin my life after promising to marry me. It is true that my family don’t have the 1.5 kilo of gold to give and acres of land they demanded…' This remark in the suicide note led to the arrest of Ruwais.
