ALAPPUZHA: A man allegedly buried his mother’s body in the kitchen without informing anyone. The deceased has been identified as Radha, a native of Thuravoor. Her son, Gireesh, is accused of burying the body. The incident reportedly took place last night. Based on a complaint from locals, the police have registered a case of unnatural death. Radha and Gireesh were the only ones living in the house. As Gireesh is addicted to alcohol, his wife has been living at her family home with their two children.

According to the police, Gireesh, in an intoxicated state, called relatives and informed them that his mother had died and that he had performed the last rites on his own. He told relatives that she had died on Tuesday morning. After learning about the incident, the police reached the house and took Gireesh into custody. The police are recording his statement. The police said that Radha’s body will be exhumed today and a post-mortem examination will be conducted. Only after the post-mortem will it be possible to confirm whether it was a case of murder, police added.
